I for one would appreciate any feedback on interesting places to visit, good places to eat etc.

  2. Hi All
In terms of places to visit, if you are looking for day trips then I personally would recommned Chefchouan which is the Rif mountains and interesting place wonder around (a bit touristy) but enjoyable none the less. The other place Asilah (which is south of Tangiers) again a bit touristy but nice none the less and interetsing murals in medina. Both do need a car.

If you re looking for place close to Sania to eat then the resturart above the shop (mearest the petrol) is not bad and it just across the road.

    Kind regards
    Nik

  3. Hi Nik,
On a recent visit that restaurant across the road was closed down. Then on my last visit I noticed it was open again, but with perhaps new owners....anyway will need to give it a try again next time.
The garage retaurant is also good(lamb steaks are my favourite there!).
One place I have tried a couple of times recently is the pizzeria on the front road at Marina beach. Food OK but service was poor.
Frank referred to a restaurant where we bumped into each other last summer. It is called 'Kamala', by the fire station in M'Diq - very clean open kitchen, smart inside, good food and incredible value for money. Fish platters and tagines recommended.

  4. Paid a couple of visits to the new burger restaurant in Mdiq on the new port development (OBurger/Venezia Ice)- burger and onion rings were great, on another visit the kids had ice creams which were pretty impressive. Decent value for the quality of food and the nice surroundings!

  5. Another good new restaurant is Cabo Corner - when you get to the Meridiana roundabout outside mdiq, turn left (towards Cabo Negro)and restaurant is past La Firma on the right had side. Had paella there, swordfish and steak all excellent (on 3 separate visits - not at the same time!!). The salad starters are huge/excellent and the kids loved the chicken goujons. The owner is really nice, and speaks english better than me!

  6. Have also been back to the Meridiana following a period of exile....the filet steaks are excellent - the red wine with it makes all the difference - but cannot bring myself to have my normal pepper sauce with it yet......

  7. While out in July with Steve Wood (D6) we visited the garage restaurant, which was interesting. We all chose a fish dish (not sure what the fish was) but we each had about 6 pieces with chips. Was a bit unusual but quite tasty. We also had a couple of pints of beer each and the total bill was about £15.00 - an absolute bargin. Was strange though, having a meal next to a petrol station!

We also had coffees in the garden of the restaurant next door, where we found a table under a tree in the shade.

We also wandered along the beach to the right as you leave Sania, but cannot recall the name. It was a round hut/bar right on the beach. The food was excellent and the beer nice and cold - but a bit pricey for Morocco.

  8. If you are interested in Archaeology, then the museum at Tetouan is worth a visit. It is only small but the entrance fee of 10 dirhams was worth it for the toilet facilities alone!
There are some interesting mosaics and artefacts - from the Roman settlements of Volubilis and Tamuda - worth calling into if you are in Tetouan
